SEO tools are a great way to get started in SEO. They can help you find your competition, analyze your keyword rankings and make changes to your site.
However, if you don’t know where to start, they might be daunting.
So, before you download any software, make sure it’s right for you. Here are some of the best SEO tools for beginners:
Google Search Console
This is the best tool for tracking your website’s performance and making changes to your site. It gives you reports and insights into how people are interacting with your site, where they’re coming from, and what they’re looking at. You’ll also be able to see which keywords are driving traffic to your site and identify any broken links or other problems that may be holding people back from clicking through.
SEO is an ever-changing game. As Google algorithms change, so do the best SEO tools to use.
Here are the top 10 SEO tools for beginners:
- Google Search Console (SEO)
- Moz Local
- Ahrefs Domain Research Tool
- SEMrush Keywords Tool
- SEMrush Keyword Difficulty Tool
- Ahrefs Site Audit Tool
- Majestic SEO
- Google Analytics (GA)
- Open Site Explorer (OSX)
For beginners, the best SEO tools are free. They don’t cost a lot of money and they are easy to use. But if you want to get serious about SEO, you’ll need some paid tools.
Most people who start out with SEO will want to use free tools. It’s hard to spend money on something that doesn’t seem like it will do much good. But there is a difference between “free” and “no-cost.” The best SEO tools can still be expensive if you’re not careful.
A good example of this is Google AdWords and Bing Ads. Both these programs offer very high-quality services at very low costs (compared with other advertising options). But if you use them incorrectly or don’t have enough traffic coming through your site, they won’t help at all. This is why it’s so important to know what keywords bring in traffic and how much they cost.
SEO is a pretty broad field, so there are literally thousands of SEO tools out there. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. What makes them great or mediocre?
The first thing to know is that there are two types of SEO tools: free and paid. Free tools are usually good enough for beginners to get started with, but they’re not as powerful or effective as their paid counterparts. Paid tools can be more expensive than free ones, but they offer a lot more functionality and power. There are tons of paid SEO tools out there, but we’ve narrowed it down to just a few that provide the best value for your money.
Every program I describe below offers free versions and demos.
If you want to get a better idea of what you can do with each tool, check out their tutorials on YouTube. You’ll find them all in Google Search, just type in “YouTube Tutorial” or something like that.
Here are some examples:
HireVue – https://www.hirevue.com
Upwork – https://www.upwork.com
LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com
There are many options for online tools to help you with your writing. The main ones are:
Google Docs – Free and easy to use, with a wide variety of templates and formatting options
Microsoft Word – Powerful and expensive, but if you need it, it’s worth paying for.
Scribd (or any other ebook publishing tool) – You can upload your work here and publish it in a variety of formats; the site also offers some editing services.
- Chrome Web Store
- Evernote for Mac
I’ve been using Fiverr for a couple of years now, and it’s a great place to get started freelancing.
You can find a range of services on Fiverr — from writing articles to designing logos — and each gig is priced at $5. You’ll need to pay more if you want more complex work done, such as designing an entire website or app. But the price is right and there are plenty of gigs that are either free or cheap enough that they’re worth checking out. If you’re just starting out, I recommend signing up for Fiverr with this link and making sure you have a profile picture that shows off your face (or at least something close enough).
A surprising number of the major search engines have their own internal tools that can be used to audit on-page SEO. Google Search Console is by far the most popular, but Yahoo! Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools are slightly less popular.
Google Search Console –
It provides a lot of information about your site’s performance in Google, but it does not offer much insight into other search engines.
Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a tool that crawls the web looking for broken links and other issues with your website’s code. It also checks to see if your CSS has any syntax errors or if there are any security vulnerabilities on your website.
Google Search Console:
Google Search Console is an excellent tool for finding problems with your website. It has a lot of great features and can provide you with information about everything from your meta descriptions to your site speed.
Screaming Frog SEO Spider
Screaming Frog SEO Spider is another free tool that can help you find issues with your website’s code or page structure. You can use it to crawl pages, find broken links, monitor changes over time, and more.
Google Search Console
For webmasters, Google Search Console is a really helpful tool. It allows you to check on your site’s performance in Google Search Console, making it easier to track down issues with your ranking and improve it. However, if you want to use this tool for more than just checking on your ranking, then PageSpeed Insights is an excellent option that can help you optimize your site even further.
PageSpeed Insights checks the speed of your pages and gives you recommendations on how to improve them. It’s available as an add-on for Google Webmaster Tools, where it’ll run against every page on your site and give suggestions based on its findings. It’s not free but it’s definitely worth trying out because once you’ve used PageSpeed Insights’ recommendations and implemented them into your website, you’ll see improvements in both search rankings and user experience.
As you’re working on your website, you’ll be tempted to try every new tool or service to improve your rankings. But in the end, unless you have a well-defined strategy for ranking improvement, you’re just making noise and adding clutter to your site.
The truth is that most SEO tools are becoming obsolete by the day. They can be great at what they do — but not necessarily in ways that make sense for your business.
