Candidates who have completed their schooling from CBSE, ICSE, or any other recognized board are eligible to apply. The candidate and High Secondary must have a graduate degree of 3 or 4 years under any discipline securing a minimum of 60% or 6.5 CGPA, and for SC/ST, it is 55 % or 6.0 CGPA. For designing courses, if the candidate is applying for B.Des, that is Bachelor’s Degree, then higher secondary marks should be at least 65 to 70 %.
The minimum percentage of Graduation required for admission varies from institute to institute. For example, IIT Kharagpur’s minimum percentage required for an MSc program is 65%. Similarly, for IIT Bombay M.Tech, the minimum percentage required is 70%, and for IIT Kharagpur MBA, it is 60%. Candidates in the SC/ST category must have secured a minimum of 65% marks in their Graduation for M.Tech. The minimum percentage required for M.A is 60%, and for SC/ST, it is 55%, for Designing Courses, the minimum mark required is 60%; and for SC/ST, it is 55 %. For MBA, it is 55 % for SC/ST, and for MSc, it is 55% for SC/ST.
This is not enough to take admission to IITs. A candidate has to appear for a qualifying entrance test for these courses. Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria will be shortlisted for further rounds of selection which may include an interview. The final selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in all the selection rounds.
